CV vs Resume: What's the Difference (and Which Do You Need)?

A resume is a short, targeted summary — usually one page — tailored to a specific job. A CV (curriculum vitae) is longer and more comprehensive, covering your full academic and professional history. In the US and Canada, "resume" is the default for most jobs and "CV" means the long academic version. In the UK, Europe, and much of Asia and the Middle East, "CV" is simply the everyday word for what Americans call a resume.
